X No Longer Marks The Spot

Throughout the ages, X always marked the spot for a pirates treasure waiting to be found. As NFC technology gets underway and builds popularity amongst consumers, the NFC “N” mark / symbol will soon become the destination where consumers will identify as a touchpoint that is NFC enabled. The treasures to be found inside a NFC tag are numerous and the content will vary according to the data that the tag issuer wants to deliver. 500 New “NFC” Domain Names Registered

As NFC technology starts trending, there has been quite a bit of speculation from domain name investors lately. Last week there were 537 “NFC” related domain names registered @ Sedo.com. From reading through this list, you will see that many of the newly registered domains make no sense what so ever. This leads me to believe that they were not registered by hand, but by a program inserting dictionary words and popular keywords. There are quite a few longtail names which include 2-3-4 words and “NFC” that do make sense, but I see no value in many of them. Mostly noted in this list is the absence of the “N” mark symbol domain names, most likely because of the trademark issues that might occur. … Read entire article »

NFC Tags Applied To Innovative Employee Fitness Gamification

  LONDON, 12 APRIL 2012: Digital marketing agency EHS 4D today unveils FloorD, a system incorporating the latest technology to get staff to step up to a ‘Summer Like No Other’ in London 2012. All staff have been equipped with NFC (near field communications) computer chips embedded into stickers that they swipe against card readers installed in stairwells in the agency’s 6-storey building in Central London. Every time they swipe, a signal is sent to a central server which keeps track of the number of stairs climbed. And if they swipe too many times or too quickly, the computer smells a rat, assumes they have taken the lift and deducts points for cheating.
